Strömstad — a small historic town in western Sweden, located on the shore of the Skagerrak Strait near the Norwegian border. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the city was often the scene of Danish-Swedish wars, in which Norway was periodically involved. Since the late 18th century, after the discovery of medicinal springs Strömstad became a popular resort.

The port of Stromstad consists of two sections. Ferries of local lines connecting the city with the nearest islands depart from the pier in the center of the city. The access roads to the pier are excellent, and there is a large parking lot nearby. There is a bar and restaurant near the parking lot, small hotels, a medical center and an art gallery near the port.
The closest international airports to Stromstad — Sannefjord in Norway (about 130 km), much further is Copenhagen airport — over 450 km. It takes a little over 5 hours to get to Stromstad by train from Stockholm, the train goes directly to the port.
