Ferry service from Bilbao

Ferry service from Bilbao is operated by Brittany Ferries. Flights to the Irish port of Rosslare and the British port of Portsmouth run twice a week. Flights to Portsmouth are delayed until the end of March 2022 because of the pandemic.

The crossing to Portsmouth takes about 26 to 30 hours.

The cost of an economy class ticket for a passenger without a car starts at 106 euros for a deck seat without a fixed seat. For a fixed-room airplane seat an additional €12 must be paid; a cabin seat will cost from an additional €104. The standard fare is 25% more expensive than the economy fare, the flexible fare is 50% more expensive. All fare plans include continental dinner and breakfast. The crossing to Irish Rosslare will take about 27 hours. Tickets start at 102 euros in economy class, the other conditions are the same as on the Bilbao-Portsmouth line.

All ferries are comfortable, with restaurants, boutiques, bars, spas, discotheques, video lounges and playrooms for children on board.

Companies offer related services and ferry cruises, and there is a club discount system.

Port of Bilbao

The port of Bilbao is located north of the city on the Bay of Biscay in the estuary of the river of the same name. The ferry terminal can be reached from Bilbao International Airport. Depending on the route, the length of the journey varies from 25 to 35 km. There is a railway station close to the port. You can also get there by bus from Bilbao.

The port has developed access roads, large parking lots, strong logistical infrastructure, but the tourist infrastructure is more modest: the terminal building has an information desk, waiting room, free Wi-Fi, snack bar.
