The crossing is operated by a modern HaiXia ferry, which can accommodate 760 passengers and about 250 vehicles. This route is an alternative means of crossing the Taiwan Strait for residents in southern Taiwan.

The Fujian Cross Strait Ferry first ran in 2019. This route significantly reduces the time it takes to deliver fresh produce from the island of Taiwan to stores on the mainland. The high-speed catamaran «Hai Hia», which was built in 2002, stands out in the company's fleet. It was built in aluminum alloy designed for saltwater applications.
